Sony PAL plans revamp in coming months

Recently, there were reports in the media that six month old Sony Pal is going to go off air. These reports were clarified by the spokesperson who said, "Sony Pal was launched five months ago subsequent to which the channel has done extensive research. On the basis of this research, the channel is in the process of realigning its content strategy. The Channel has achieved extensive distribution as a pay channel and will continue to be an important asset for the MSM network."

The channel will continue to be a pay channel.

On the contrary the channel has plans of revamping the channel with a lot of changes. The current shows have been informed about the decision to revamp the content and phase out the shows. Though the spokesperson did not reveal the dates but it is speculated that the exercise should be complete by mid of February.

The channel was launched in September last year followed by ZEEL’s Zindagi in June and Juhi Chawla the brand ambassador for PAL had set the right tone during the launch. Both these channels today have a decent viewership of about 70-80 million viewers per week. However, the proposition of both the channels is totally different, Zindagi was positioned as a premium Hindi GEC while Sony Pal was positioned as a mainstream channel.
