Sony plays the 'Baahubali' card to retain audiences for Kapil's new show

We had said that the face-off would be interesting... and it is. Last week, Colors had announced that it would be premiering historical drama ‘Bajirao Mastani’ at 9 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2016, which would clash with the premiere of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ on Sony.

Now, Sony is looking to counter this move of Colors by announcing that it would air last year’s fantasy blockbuster, ‘Baahubali’, on April 23 in the lead up to Kapil’s new show. The channel is hoping that the movie would create appointment viewing and retain the audiences for ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’.

The only catch here could be that ‘Baahubali’ had premiered on Sony Max on October 25, 2015 and since then has been aired a few times already. Hence, the novelty factor would be missing.

Would the might of ‘Baahubali’ and the comedy quotient of Kapil be enough to grab the eyeballs or would the audiences go for the combined star power of Bajirao Mastani’s Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone-Priyanka Chopra? Watch this space for more developments.
