Sony to foray into Marathi Market with a new Marathi Channel

Sony Pictures Network India is in the process of launching a GEC Channel in Marathi. The channel will expand the portfolio of Sony Entertainment Channel.

According to sources, Ajay Bhalwankar will lead the new GEC. He has been with SPNI (Sony Pictures Network India) for five years. Initially as a programming head for SET from November 2009 to 2011 and then returning to SET as Chief Creative Director in 2014.

After Sony Aath, this will be Sony’s foray into a regional market, Maratthi.

On this SPNI spokesperson said, “Yes, we shall be launching a Marathi channel soon. We shall share details on the date and who will be leading it later.”
