Sony YAY!’s Guru Aur Bhole celebrate World Music Day

None of us can imagine a world without music, and rightly said by Jimi Hendrix, “If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music”. Music is one of the most wonderful ways to introduce the kids to our culture. And as the celebration of World Music Day kick starts, kids channel Sony YAY! sets on a musical mission to offer kids a delightful opportunity to explore music in its fullest form and to celebrate the magical gift of music.

The channel’s most tuneful and endearing characters Guru and Bhole made this day super special by associating with renowned musicians to facilitate this vision, including Shaan, Kailash Kher, Shruti Pathak and Palak Muchhal, having them endorse a musical instrument...aiming to transform young aspirational souls into inspired musicians. A djembe, guitar, a ukulele and bongo drums were autographed respectively by these artistes. These instruments will then be donated to a special NGO whose aim is to create musical experiences for vulnerable children, to share knowledge and understanding of music, and to make music education and the joy that comes with it, accessible to all.

Building on the belief that music can make the world a better place and can encourage kids to freely express themselves, the channel took on this special cause. Through this initiative, Sony YAY! aims to help children across societies explore music in its truest form and thus helping them reach their full potential through music.

This proved as a facilitator to serve children who demonstrate a desire to learn music, as well as teachers who have students willing to learn.

Leena Lele Dutta, Business Head, SPN Kids Genre, said “Sony YAY! has always believed in bringing happiness to kids’ lives. With this vision, we took on this idea and are humbled by the response from kids as well as the artists on board. Music is an element that can bring people together and inspire generations. India being so diverse, we have an amalgamation of cultures, people, music,  languages…and spreading happiness through every element kids connects with has always been our motto at YAY!. We are only thankful for their support throughout the campaign and their support in spreading happiness through musical experiences.”

Shaan, Renowned Indian Playback Singer, said I'm very happy to be part of this wonderful initiative by Sony YAY! and it's about giving equal opportunity to kids who enjoy music and just to encourage them that little more. We're going to give them personalized instruments that make them feel little more special about what they're doing. I've signed a djembe and hopefully, someone's going to get really encouraged to enjoy this instrument. I'd like to wish everyone a very Happy World Music day and I would suggest, on this day, listen to some song or some music that you haven't heard before and discover music from some part of the world.

Kailash Kher, Indian Film Music Composer and Pop - rock singer, said “It is great to see India celebrating music in such a glorious form. Music is something that balances life, supports life in a true sense. It is a brilliant cause taken up by Sony YAY!, encouraging kids across streams to learn music, and giving them a sense of motivation. India has immense talent, it is just a matter of supporting that talent. I only hope for people to take up such empowering steps, and wish the channel all the luck for their initiative.”

Shruti Pathak, Indian Playback Singer and Lyricist, said “It’s such a fun and lovely initiative by Sony YAY! I totally had a gala time with Guru and Bhole and I’d like to wish everyone a very Happy World Music Day!”

Palak Muchhal, Indian Playback Singer, said “I’ve always believed that music is not only a hobby or a career choice, it’s much more than that. It can actually save a life, that’s what I’ve witnessed in my life. It can bring a smile on faces and that’s what Sony YAY! is doing this World Music Day and I’m really happy and privileged to be part of this initiative”
