Spirit W | Do your best and be happy with what you have: Mediacom's Ruby Menezes

Today in Spirit W we get you one more women achiever from the media industry. As we track what drives these ladies to bring that extra bit of change in their organisation's work environment, Adgully caught up with Ruby Menezes, Business Director, Mediacom Interaction to find out her thoughts on the industry and some of the work that she is really proud of.

Talking about how she began her career, Menezes says, "I am a peoples person and I love color- in personalities and in life in general. I started with e-recruitment field sales at jobsahead.com. Then moved onto the publisher side of the table with Times Internet managing their South based client accounts. Then shifted sides to media consultancy and setup Starcom IP in the south. In 2009 I joined Mediacom to setup and manage one of the countries largest digital advertisers- Dell India and currently manage a team that handles the Dell B2B divisions digital media duties."

Recalling some of the work that she is really proud of she says, "I am proud of every piece of work that I have done actually, big or small. But if I have to point out some work specifically would be really leading and managing the Dell B2B digital media duties. B2B as a category is a very challenging audience to manage in the nascant digital media scenario in India." Menezes further points out that there isn't any regulated data or tools that help planners with audience targetting and the team thus successfully managed to bring in a very healthy QoQ growth for Dell B2B since the time they have managed them which is right from July 2009. Dell SMB being one of the largest B2B category spenders in online media in India today.

So who are the women who really inspire her to get on with the ups and downs of life and hit back with a powerful punch everytime the tide seems high?

Menezes says, "Mostly I have been my own inspiration being a self motivated person largely, but a woman who has inspired me to do the best at whatever you do is really my sister Rinet. She is a paediatrician in the US and has always set very realistic goals and practical ways of reaching them. Most importantly , once she achieves it she is very happy and content with it and desires no more. She therefore inspires the "do your best and be happy with what you have" attitude in me."
