Spirit W | Women make better proactive leaders: MEC's Yashita Mukhi

So far we have got you 20 leading ladies in the media space who are young at heart, confident and at times kept us glued on to their stories. Hence a little pat on our backs as we move on to one more flamboyant lady from the everyday mad-rush of managing media plans.

Today we get you Yashita Mukhi, Business Group Head, MEC and "an avid traveller'.

Talking about how she started her career, Mukhi says, "I started my career in a search marketing company called Pinstorm Technologies, post which I worked in a trade journal handling events and have been wid MEC since a little over 3 yrs."

She further adds that she is extremely proud of the work she did for Nivea XOXO, Nivea for Men Chennai Super Kings IPl promotion, Mercedes SLS AMG launch. "Handling the entire lead management for TATA AIG General Insurance and Mercedes Benz Social Media activities, have also been an amazing experience for me."

So when she is not in the conference- room, she likes to take a break from this maddening world. As she puts it in her own words- "I have a special connection with the Himalayas, I love travelling in those mountains alone. I practice yoga which is what keeps me grounded in this ad mad world!"

Mukhi tell us how off late, Lisa Ray is a lady that she admires the most. "Her tryst with Cancer and her never say die spirit is truly admirable," she adds.

So amidst our women-centric talks we ask her -Do you feel women have an edge over men in the media space?

She promptly says, "I don't think it is about being a man or a woman, it is really about how clued on one is to this medium. Nowism is the order of the day. However, women make better proactive leaders as they are better in handling teams and multitasking at the same time."

So is there anything that the media industry lacks in right now?

Mukhi says, "With regards to digital I think education is needed especially at the clients end, as agencies we need to constantly keep our abreast with the happenings around the world. Learnings need to be shared as well as replicated where ever possible."
