Spotify redesigns its app

Spotify is going for a redesigning of its homescreen, in a bid to make it more user-friendly. The new design, with heavy imagery, will have vertical scrolling option, which will almost look like TikTok and Instagram.
The new design will align with the audio streamer’s increased focus on diversifying with podcasts, live audio, audiobooks, live audio, and more, all in its bid to be more than just a music app.
“With this new experience, we’re giving fans an even more active role in the audio discovery process, and giving creators even more space to share their work. Powered by advanced recommendations, new visual canvases, and a completely new and interactive design, the new interface is making discovering new audio easier than ever before and helping introduce users to their next favorite artist, podcast, or book. It’s all about closing the distance between creators and fans—and setting the stage for long-term, lasting connections that reach beyond viral success. As the platform continues to grow and evolve, the streamer wants to ensure that its user interface evolves too to meet the changing needs of its users,” the streamer announced during the second edition of Stream On event in Los Angeles.

One of the main goals of the redesign is to make it easier for users to find the content they are looking for. Spotify offers a vast library of music, podcasts, and other audio content, and the current homescreen can be overwhelming for some users. The new design aims to simplify the homescreen by providing more personalised recommendations based on a user's listening habits.
The streamer seeks to cater to the evolving user habits. As user habits and preferences change, Spotify needs to adapt its platform to meet those needs. For example, the rise of podcasts and audio content means Spotify needs to make it easier for users to discover and access this content.
