Star India, Viacom18, Goldmines Telefilms get MIB nod for new channels

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has granted licences for new TV channels to Star India, Viacom18 and Goldmines Telefilms.

With this Star India will be able to further fortify its regional presence, as the broadcaster has got the licence to launch its Odia GEC channel Star Kirano and its HD feed, Star Kirano HD. Asianet Star Communications, Star’s subsidiary, will be launching the HD versions of Vijay Super and Asianet Movies after getting the licences.

It is not known under which genres Viacom18 has got the licences to launch four new channels as the media group has given them dummy names for now.

Goldmines Telefilms will be expanding its movies channels bouquet after getting licences for three new channels – Goldmines, Goldmines Hindi, and Goldmines Movies. The entertainment company already has Hindi Movies channel Dhinchaak in its portfolio.
