Star Jalsha to launch two new nonfiction shows from May 3

Mark Sunday May 3 on your calendars, as Star Jalsha is all set to launch two new non-fiction shows, ‘Bhayabachaka’ and ‘Ebar Jalsha Rannaghare’. Further, the audience will also enjoy Jalsha’s two popular fiction programs – ‘Ishti Kutum’ and ‘Chokher Tara Tui’ seven days a week, from Monday to Sunday.

‘Bhyabachaka’, starting on Sunday, May 3 at 8:00 pm, is the Bengali version of the game show ‘Distraction’. This popular game show is a Fremantle Media format that has been produced in 16 territories worldwide including US, UK, Italy, Spain, Canada and Channel V in India. Every Sunday the game show will greet you with a combination of simple questions with hilarious concentration-breakers. Each episode features 4 celebrity contestants and there are a total of 4 rounds. Whether it’s naming a Satyajit Ray film while riding a rotating bull or being shot at by coloured water balloons for answering incorrectly, the contestants are in for a tough time. The contestant with the highest score in the end of round 3 plays the final round. The winner takes home hard cash, but even here there’s a twist.  The cash prize is divided into 4 different lots and put into 5 different pots (one of the pots stays empty). It is now up to the winner as to how much of the cash prize s/he takes home – a wrong answer disqualifies you from breaking a pot of your choose.

No one loves their food as much, like the Bengalis. Our second non-fiction offering is a weekly ‘Ebar Jalsha Rannaghare’, starting on May 3 at 7:00PM. This foodie’s delight is a cookery show where authentic cooking is supported by a celebrity anchor who has two unique guests on a regular basis. Both the guest are characters from Star Jalsha show along with another regular guest - a ‘celebrity chef’ who works as a ‘tadka’.

Other than the new line-up, Star Jalsha will also delight its viewers by extending its fiction programs to Sundays, giving its viewers an undisturbed 7 days of their favorite programs. The two programs to play from Monday to Sunday from May 3 onwards are ‘Ishti Kutum’ at 6.30 PM and ‘Choker Tara Tui’ at 7.30 PM.

Star India spokesperson says, “Our endeavor is to provide content that the whole family could enjoy on Sundays. Also whenever we have spoken with our viewers, they have always highlighted their desire of seeing nonfiction content in our channel. To fulfill this desire, we are launching two new non-fiction shows- Bhyabachaka and Ebar Jalsha Rannaghare which is unique in their content.  We are also extending our two popular fiction shows- Ishti kutum and Choker Tara Tui to Sundays thus staying true to our core belief of Chalo Paltai.”
