Star TV looks hot like their new logo!

Last Friday evening Star TV blew our minds over and over again. Firstly, with the announcement that they are now HD ready in collaboration with Dolby. Secondly, they are also 3D ready! Thirdly, they launched their new corporate logo ' Hot Star logo. And fourthly, Gayatri Yadav is their new Executive Vice President Marketing & Communications.

Yadav had her first day experience surrounded by the media and colleagues. She will take over from Anupam Vasudev who was EV-P, Marketing, at STAR India. Vasudev will be assuming a new corporate role.

Yadav a student from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta started her career as Brand Management with Procter & Gamble. Prior to joining Star Yadav worked as Marketing Director, General Mills.

Moving further to other news from Star they are now setting the trend or rather the trail for other channels to follow suit. By partnering with Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB) they aim to bring to the viewers the Asli HD experience. Star provides its viewers with the HD technology along with the Dolby Digital Plus surround sound thus proving that Star is the Asli HD.

Speaking on the collaboration, Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India said, "Star India's creative leadership, matched with Dolby's superior audio technology, is a reaffirmation of our promise to bring our viewers a world-class HD experience." He added, "We're extremely happy that Dolby has joined hands with us to help take the viewer experience of TV to the next level through HD."

Commenting on the same Mahesh Sundaram, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Dolby Laboratories said, "We are pleased to be working with Star TV to transform the sound of television entertainment in India." He added, "Dolby Digital Plus brings cinematic surround sound for movies and stunningly realistic sound for television programs so Star TV viewers can enjoy their favorite content as the artists intended."

The Asli HD experience will be available on Star Plus, Star Movies, Star Gold, Star World and Nat Geo. These channels will bear the mark "HD' on their respective logos. To enjoy the Asli HD experience, viewers will need a HD television set and subscribe to Star's Asli HD channels on DTH platforms such as Tata Sky + HD. Dolby Digital Plus delivers superior audio quality for a richer surround sound experience and supports up to 7.1 channels of cinema-quality sound. With this set up, viewers can enjoy an exhilarating and unadulterated HD experience.

The telecast of shows on HD enabled channels will remain the same sans the commercial breaks. The shows will run for the total 22 minutes and will have ads and promotions run by the channel post the show as a filler till next show airs. Although on movie channels especially Star Gold where not all the movies played are shot in HD will have different broadcasts. This will be seen only until the older movies are redone in HD technology.

Starting Monday Star HD will see a wide spread campaign across various mediums. In print, through publications The Times of India and Mint in the cities of Mumbai and Delhi. As well as hoardings in these cities along with retain branding in Croma, Next, Vijay Sales, Kohinoor, Ooh Screen and also Multiplex promotion. The campaign will move across channels in the Star Network in the News genre (Star news, Aajtak, NDTV), Kids channel (Cartoon Network,Hungama)

Shankar also announced that Star is also 3D ready with a sneak peek of what their 3D experience will be. However they are still awaiting 3D content for the network to showcase. This will be available hopefully sooner rather than later.

Just like their new "Hot Star' logo Star has set ablaze the road to revolutionizing the television viewing experience. An excellent way to start the summer holidays, imagine relaxing on the couch, putting your feet up a tall glass of chilled lemonade, watching your favourite movies and shows¦ ah that's the Asli HD experience!
