Star Viewer Forum, changing the game in UK

In what seems to be the hallmark of a market leader, Star UK is ahead of the game.

Through the unique concept of "Star Viewer Forum,' the Star UK is reaching out to its record-breaking number of viewers to put a finger on the pulse of the market.

The "Star Viewer Forum' is an initiative where the Star UK Senior management will meet & talk to viewers in Glasgow, London, Manchester, Birmingham and Leicester.

"Talking to our viewers is the simplest & best way to identify how to stay ahead of the game. For the first time our Head of International Business - Rajan Singh and the head of the UK business - Yeshpal Sharma, will be travelling across five major British cities to spend time with our viewers and invite their opinions and thoughts on Asian TV entertainment. We are looking forward to hearing what our viewers have to say," said Star's Senior Marketing Manager for UK, Sarika Shankarnarayan.

Earlier this year, two of the network's channels in the UK- Star Plus and Star Gold went live on BARB (Broadcaster's Audience Research Board - the organization that compiles television ratings in the UK) and have since confirmed the widely held market belief by officially capturing the top spots, with Star Plus officially rated as the UK's No.1 Hindi Entertainment Channel and Star Gold - the UK's No.1 Bollywood Movie Channel. Incidentally, Star Gold is also the only South Asian channel shortlisted for an award in the coveted Hotbird TV Awards 2010, held in Venice.

This November, Star Plus sees the return of the hugely successful celebrity chat show "Koffee with Karan,' whose guest list reads more like a who's-who of the Bollywood movie industry. Additionally, one of the channel's longest-running and most popular drama series "Bidaai' also builds up to an exciting finale, to be replaced by the hotly-touted "Gulaal' that promises to retain the channel's no.1 position.

November also sees Star's launch on the hot new South African platform Top TV, where in an unprecedented move - the network has launched Star Plus, Star Gold, Channel V and Vijay - making Star the first Indian television network to launch four channels in South Arica.

Indeed a milestone November for Star. Yet again, changing the game.
