Star World is home to the many Emmy winners of the 71st Primetime Emmy 2019!

The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, Television’s biggest awards night kicked off on Sunday in Loss Angeles and the results are out! Some of the hugely influential series like Game of Thrones, Chernobyl, Fosse/Verdon, Pose, Succession, and many more, grabbed handful of Emmys and Star World, India’s leading English Entertainment channel is the home to some of these biggest, most Emmy-winning, audience and critic favorite shows from around the world. With this, Star World continues to handpick the best from the extensive list of shows and brings it to Indian audiences.

For the past three seasons, the channel is home to Game of Thrones. With a record shattering 32 Emmy nominations this year for the final season of Game Of Thrones, broke its own record and made history for the most Emmys ever for a Drama or Comedy Series and with an overall of 59 wins throughout all its seasons. And as the global audience says goodbye to the show, this year again, our perpetual favorite took home the award for Outstanding Drama Series and that’s not it! Peter Dinklage also won his 4th Emmy for supporting actor in this fantasy drama.

One of the biggest surprise came for Pose, a show that perfectly depicted of the struggles of the LGBTQ community – Billy Porter, the first time Emmy nominee, took home his first Emmy, for outstanding lead actor in drama series, and in doing so, made Emmy history! He happens to be the first openly gay black man to win in this category.

On the comedy side of the awards, the night belonged to Amazon’s Fleabag which took home four awards, including those for best actress in a comedy, won by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and also directing and best comedy series. Through this win, Julia Louis-Dreyfus missed out on record as Phoebe broke Dreyfus winning streak; prior to this, Julia won six consecutive Emmys in the outstanding lead actress in a comedy series category for six seasons of VEEP!

Chernobyl, touted as the greatest television drama in the history, has bagged the award of outstanding limited series. The TV Academy has thrown in some welcome curveballs, showing love for Barry and Succession. Barry’s Bill Harder took home outstanding lead actor in the comedy series.

While Veep and Game of Thrones bid farewell, they received a well-deserved coronation at the Emmys as the teams and cast members received a standing ovation with the loudest applause!

Making a clean sweep at the Emmys 2019, Star World Shows, which bagged a total of 32 Emmys wins stands tall as the entertainment powerhouse and continues to provide the Indian audiences with the best of television content from around the world!
