Star World Premiere HD premieres Season 4 of blockbuster TV series 'The Americans'

Period spy drama ‘The Americans’ is renowned as one of the best drama series on television today. The series that has cemented this status with the critics and audiences alike is now all set to come back to television with its latest, season 4 premiering in India on Star World Premiere HD, the channel that is home to day and date television viewing in the country.

The Americans stars Golden Globe award winner Keri Russell (of ‘Felicity’ fame) as Elizabeth Jennings and phenomenal actor Matthew Rhys (of ‘Brothers & Sisters’ and ‘The Bastard Executioner’ fame) as Philip Jennings, two Soviet KGB officers who are married to each other and have kids. The show follows their lives as they live with their unsuspecting children in Washington DC in order to spy on the American government. Set during the period of The Cold War, the series mainly focuses on the personal and professional struggles of The Jennings as a couple while incorporating some significant real-life events into the narrative.

With the show now geared up to reboot with the premiere of its Season 4, The Americans will pick up exactly where it left off in the finale episode of its previous season. With their daughter, Paige, finally uncovering her parents’ secret identities and confessing it to Pastor Tim, The Jennings are amidst some seriously grave danger this season. Additionally, the spy couple will also be facing another major danger as they find themselves in the middle of a case that deals with bio-weapons and the danger of them getting out and killing everyone on the planet.

Speaking of Season 4, Keri Russell stated, “This season feels a lot, to me, about the emotional cost of the choices over the last three years that they’ve made.” She further added, “There is a big opening for Elizabeth in a new way, especially with Paige and seeing how it’s affecting her. Between Paige’s fractures and Philip’s fractures, there is a bigger sensitivity to the fragility of her family this season.”

After three seasons of focusing on the beginning of the 1980s, the show is now set in the year 1983 and will highlight several of the year’s big historical moments - President Ronald Reagan’s Star Wars Speech, David Copperfield making the Statue of Liberty disappear, and the debut of the landmark TV movie, The Day After.
