Stardust Awards has a natural edge over other awards: Amitabh Tiwari

The 14th Sansui Colors Stardust Awards saw Bollywood come together recently to celebrate and applaud the sweat and hard work of the film fraternity in 2016 at the Reliance Jio Gardens at BKC in Mumbai. 

The Sansui Colors Stardust Awards will be telecast on January 8, 2017 on Colors.

The Red Carpet witnessed a bevy of Bollywood royalty like Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh, Sridevi, Asha Bhosale, and many more erstwhile entertainers as they cheered for the cinematic excellence that put Indian films on global charts in 2016. 

The Sansui Colors Stardust Awards recognised winners across more than 27 categories, including Editor’s Choice, Reader’s Choice Awards and Special Awards. 

On the digital front, Colors brought the action from Red Carpet of the Awards live to Facebook audiences through a specially-created Facebook Live Room hosted by Meiyang Chang. 

This is the third time in a row of that Sansui is sponsoring the Stardust Awards. Commenting on the association, Amitabh Tiwari, COO, Sansui, said, “We are highly delighted to partner the most glittering evening with Stardust and Colors. Sansui also unveiled it borderless Curved 4K Ultra HD TV at the event. Crafted to deliver pure entertainment, there could have been no better platform than Stardust Awards to showcase it to the audience.” 

Giving recognition to global achievers in the Bollywood industry, Sansui in a special category presented the Sansui Global Icon of The Year Award and extended it to Priyanka Chopra and The Living Legend Award to Asha Bhosale. 

In conversation with Adgully, Amitabh Tiwari, COO, Sansui, speaks about what sets apart the Sansui Colors Stardust Awards, Sansui’s association with the awards and more. Excerpts: 

What new can we look forward to at this year’s edition of the Sansui Colors Stardust Awards?
This is the third year of Sansui’s association with Stardust, and like always we are looking forward to a sensational and an entertaining evening. With very high viewership, the expectation is always high. The Awards show is planned on a very grand scale this year as well. Being the first award ceremony of the year, the expectations from the Awards show is always high. Thus, we try to bring something new and add uniqueness through the performances, star cast, jury, etc. This year, we have a grand star cast and performances. We also welcome the Young Turks of Bollywood, who will be joining us for the first time on this stage and are hopeful that the audience will like their acts. Our aim is to recreate the magic that we have been extending. 

How is this association with the Stardust Awards helping Sansui build its brand equity?
Sansui Colors Stardust Awards stands for thrilling entertainment, breaking barriers. This is the third year of our association with this Awards. This consistency helps, so does the high TRPs for the Awards telecast. 

With a plethora of awards shows nowadays, how does one sustain relevance and viewer interest in the Awards property?
Being the first Awards show of the year, we believe that we have a natural edge over the others. With this we maintain high TRPs as well. Moreover, Stardust Awards also enjoys a legacy of entertainment. While there has been a spate in different award shows, the audience today understands the authenticity attached with each and instantly connects with the one that stands out as genuine. For Stardust, this connection goes back to 2003 when the Awards journey had started. Also, we are confident that Stardust has a loyal audience that waits for and tunes into the show each year.
