#StarMoviesSecretScreening turns one

Some journeys are meant to be remembered. Some bonds become immortal. It’s not surprising then that a story that began on a chilly Friday evening on 5 September 2014 has become a phenomenon that has changed the way movie marketing is looked upon in India.

The beginning was etched a year back by a throng of excited and eager movie buffs who gathered at PVR Cinema outlets in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore to witness a never before seen initiative in India – The Star Movies Secret Screening. An exclusive invite only closed door movie screening that gives the participating ‘secret keepers’ a rare opportunity to watch some of the biggest Hollywood movies weeks before its actual international release.

To celebrate its one year landmark, Star Movies left no stone unturned last evening in enthralling its secret keepers with the screening of the movie ‘The Martian’, a gritty survivalist tale that follows the story of astronaut Mark Watney played by Matt Damon after he is stranded on Mars when his crew is forced to leave without him. He's left in a space habitat designed to last for 30 days with no way to contact home. The next crew isn't coming for another four years, but Watney is determined to be alive when they get there.

The enthusiastic Secret Keepers were welcomed by a two piece acoustic band, entertaining them with the best soundtracks from the most popular Hollywood movies. From the assortment of activities organized, it was ensured that expectations were exceeded at every point of interaction. Apart from reveling in the movie, they were entertained with a Graffiti wall, Photo booths and Secret Keepers were also surprised with gifts that were secretly placed under their seats.
