Storia Foods withdraws its ad after being vandalised by Congress workers

Storia Foods was vandalized by workers of the Congress party, who staged a protest at the office in Mumbai on April 27. This was done over the company's new social media advertisement that was unveiled on Monday. The ad, which mocked Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, caused rage and fury among party workers and was subsequently taken down from YouTube after the issue.

The company recently launched its first-ever 360-degree marketing campaign “Wish it never gets over” for their range of Storia Shakes. The company recently released 3 ads films. Each of the three 45-second ad films focus on promoting one specific Storia Shake flavour.

This campaign was conceptualized and executed by Prime Focus Technologies and Media campaign was planned and executed by Publicis Beehive.

The first ad released as a part of the campaign is set in a cricket league press conference setting. The second ad promotes Storia mango shake wherein the actor is disappointed because there’s no more shake left for him after his workout session. The most recent of the ads promote Storia chocolate shake, which is set against a political backdrop.

While all three ads are designed as humorous parodies, the last one which had characters resembling Sonia and Rahul Gandhi has particularly come in the firing line.

The Congress unit’s press statement said, “Storia Foods company has made an advertisement in which they have shown defamatory images of Congress leader and former president Rahul Gandhi and incumbent Congress President Sonia Gandhi. To condemn this, on the directions of Mumbai Congress president Bhai Jagtap, general secretary Nitin Sawant and Mumbai Youth Congress leaders vandalised the office of Storia Foods at Mumbai in Andheri East.”

The Mumbai Congress in a statement accepted to have “vandalised” the premises of the company and as per reports, the Mumbai police have detained these Congress workers.

Storia Foods has however decided to pull down the advertisement 'mocking' Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
