Tata Indicom launches 'Doctor on Call' service

In continuation of our efforts to make a difference using mobile technology, Tata Teleservices Limited today announced a unique service called Doctor on Call in partnership with Rx Healthcare Magic Pvt. Ltd. This service provides assistance under any medical emergency situations and also provides medical consultations. The calls for consultation are chargeable at Rs. 9/- per minute.

Tata Indicom subscribers pan India can access Doctor on Call service by simply dialing 54887. Based on an IVR system, medical consultancy will be offered by doctors who are experienced and once the subscriber calls on this service the doctors through a clinical procedure would assesses the health problems. On the sole discretion of the caller, medical history would be asked which includes complete information on age/ sex/ marital status/ location/ medical history & clinical history.

Launching this unique service, S Ramakrishna, Regional COO ' South East, TATA INDICOM said, "It gives us immense pleasure and pride to launch Doctor on Call service using mobile technology. Today advanced mobile telephony is offering complete mobility services in the interest of the common man and having introduced medical emergency services we have ensured that our subscribers get the best in class value added services at a nominal fee."

To avail Tata Indicom - Doctor on Call service, subscribers need to dial 54887, and a doctor registers the personal data and medical history of the subscriber. The attending Doctor diagnoses the cases whether they feel that the subscribers' case falls under the given three options- Acute/ Chronic/ Emergency. If it is an acute condition, the caller will be given three different diagnoses by the attending doctor who will also suggest some home remedy to the caller for immediate relief.

In a Chronic condition, the attending doctor will suggest a future course of action like change in lifestyle or taking preventive measures. In case of Emergency, attending doctor will suggest that the patient is rushed to the emergency ward of nearest hospital and end the call.
