Team India’s jerseys to sport Byju’s as OPPO decides to move out

Edu-tech company and learning app Byju’s is all set to further strengthen its association with cricket. After being the most recalled brand during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, Byju’s will now be featured on the Indian cricket team’s jerseys.

It is learnt that mobile brand OPPO is relinquishing its Team India jersey rights to Byju’s. As is known, OPPO had bagged the jersey rights in 2017 for a period of five years. Media reports peg OPPO’s winning bid to be around Rs 1,079 crore.

The reason behind OPPO’s decision to hand over the jersey rights to Byju’s, according to media reports, is a financial one as the mobile company is finding the acquisition value to be very high and hence, unsustainable.

Brand OPPO will be seen on Team India’s jerseys during the West Indies tour. From September onwards, when India will tour South Africa, Byju’s will adorn the blue jerseys.

As per media reports, in March 2019, Byju’s valuation stood at $ 5 billion and the company has raised more than $819.8 million funding till date.
