Teno and Scarecrow pay a musical tribute to teachers this Guru Purnima

The status of a guru has always been held high in India through the ages and guru has even been equated to Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. From Dronacharya to modern day school teachers, all the Gurus have always enlightened their pupils with knowledge and wisdom. However, the world often fails to recognise their effort and ends up taking them for granted.

While Teachers’ Day is observed in India on September 5, going by Indian traditions, Guru Purnima is the ancient, mythological Teachers’ Day in India. This festival has great importance for Indian academics and scholars. Indians celebrate this day by thanking their teachers as well as remembering past teachers and scholars.

On the occasion of Guru Purnima this year (July 19), school communication app Teno, in creative association with Scarecrow Communications, expressed their gratitude towards teacher and paid them their due respect with a special prayer solely dedicated to the teachers. The prayer musically conveys how teaching is one of the most noble and toughest jobs to do.

Commenting on the unique initiative, Manish Bhatt, Founder Director, Scarecrow Communications, said, “This is the first ever prayer by teachers towards the students and their parents. By creating this prayer we wanted to empathise with hurdles of teachers and show them rays of hope of a better day. The takeaway of the prayer is that teaching is not an easy job and teachers should be given their due respect. I believe Guru Purnima is the perfect time to bring this song to people’s attention and rekindle the respect for teachers in everyone’s mind.”

Anurag Dixit of Teno, added here, “Teno is a new age communication platform used by more than 500 schools across India to bring their parent community closer and create a happier school-parent ecosystem. The app in a very small span of time has become a voice of tens of thousands of teachers, who in turn have shared millions of precious moments of joy with lakhs of parents. This prayer is our earnest tribute to these super humans, teachers and gurus who are not only scripting a better tomorrow for our next generation but also gifting society a blissful today.”

About the prayer
Prayers are usually done by students in schools, seeking a better and productive life. In this one, the idea of prayer has been twisted and we hear the teachers doing prayers, pleading for a more sorted life. The prayer illustrates their everyday struggle in living up to the sky-scrapping expectations of students and their parents.

The prayer has been designed like a musical mélange of traditional eastern melody and full-fledged western orchestra, where a group of four singers, including Hamshika Aiyer (‘Chammak Challo’ fame from ‘Ra-One’, ‘Chanda Re’ from ‘Eklavya’ and many more), lent their voices. Some of the finest musicians belonging to Illaiyaraaja and AR Rahman’s orchestras flew down from Chennai for the recording.

The prayer has been uploaded on sound cloud (https://soundcloud.com/user-980937906/the-prayer-by-teachers-of-india). The link is being promoted and available on Facebook this Guru Purnima.
