The Dharavi Project introduces rapper Pratik Sawant

Pratik Sawant, a student at The Dharavi Project makes his debut as a rapper and releases his first track, ‘Ek Mauka’ which he personally penned from his life experiences.

The track is a brief summary of his life journey and how he learnt to keep moving forward irrespective of his ups and downs.

Pratik joined The Dharavi Project  with a dream to release his own album and this song will  mark the beginning of his journey. The team trained and encouraged him to follow his passion. They have backed Pratik and ensured he received the required assistance in writing, singing, recording and also shooting the track.

Sharing his euphoria Pratik Sawant shares “The song encapsulates my learnings and my life story.  I have been waiting for this day since a long time. I am truly delighted and thankful to everyone who has helped me achieve my dream”

Devarj Sanyal, MD & CEO, Universal Music Group, India & South Asia  said  : "Creating Music with heart is a wholly different ball game and for us “The Dharavi Project”  is just that, to allow real talent from the true underbelly of our country a real chance at making it in the fiercely competitive music scene. From our HipHop school in Dharavi, Pratik’s EkMauka is our first single & a lot of blood & sweat has gone into the making of the song and it’s video and we hope that everyone gives us their love and blessings to make this song & his story spread far & wide. "

Co-Founder & Managing Director at Qyuki Digital Media  Samir Bangara said : "Music shouldn’t have boundaries but sometimes it is stifled by a lack of the right backing. We rarely get opportunities to make a real impact in an ecosystem, for a group at large, of talented and driven young people who deserve more than what they have got so far from life. The Dharavi Project is designed to do precisely this with its “after school of hip-hop” in the heart of Dharavi nurturing more than 50 amazing artists. Ek Mauka by Pratik is the first launch in hopefully a long array of incredible music that we plan to release over the next few months. On behalf of Qyuki our partners Universal Music and my co-founders Shekhar Kapur and A.R. Rahman we renew our commitment to providing equal opportunity for artists across all socio-economic backgrounds."

Pratik has been taking special training session under Rap instructor MC Heam. He has actively been listening and watching this genre of music to get his pace, flow and energy in sync for his song
