'The Kapil Sharma Show' shows a strong debut on Sony

‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ registered a strong debut on Sony Entertainment Television. As per BARC ratings for Week 17 (April 23-29) of 2016, the inaugural episode of the comedy show garnered 8,943 Impressions (000s). In TVR terms, the ratings stood at 3.

In fact, the inaugural episode of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ was the fifth most watched show on Hindi GECs in Week 17 as per BARC ratings [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hrs) : 4+ Individuals].

As is known, the show premiered on Sony at 9 pm on April 23, 2016. Colors had aired the world television premier of Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Bajirao Mastani’ that clashed with the debut timing of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’. BARC ratings show that the film premiere failed to dampen the enthusiasm over Kapil’s show. ‘Bajirao Mastani’ garnered ratings of 2.4 TVR as per BARC India ratings.

The debut episode of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ featured Shah Rukh Khan who created a laugh riot with his act. Almost the entire start cast of the former show ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ feature in Kapil’s new show. These include Ali Asgar, Sunir Grover, Kiku Sharda, Sumona Chakravarti, Chandan Prabhakar, Navjot Singh Sidhu, and Paresh Ganatra.

Sony Entertainment Television continued at No. 10 amongst the Hindi GECs in Week 17 of BARC ratings. The channel witnessed an increase in its gross viewership from 278,738 in Week 16 to 347,921this week.
