Thirty days' countdown to the National Games, has a grand kick-off

Percept Sports and Entertainment, the integrated Sports Management and Entertainment Company of Percept Limited, is all set for the biggest multi-sports event of the country, the National Games where they have been appointed as the Official Marketing Activation Agency. The thirty days’ countdown of the Games had a grand kick-off at a cultural melange on New Year’s Day in the presence of the State Chief Minister, the Sports Minister, the Health Minister, City Mayor, MLAs, the state’s sports fraternity, dignitaries and sports lovers at Central Stadium in Trivandrum.

The event started with a rare piece of ballet performance, a magnificent blend of acrobatics and dance steps, performed by Samudra group. Special homage was paid to the departed souls of sporting legends namely Olympian Suresh Babu, Jimmy George, Havildar C. Balakrishnan, K. Udaya Kumar and A.K. Kutty.

Some of the State’s most celebrated athletes and coaches, namely K.C.Elamma, Cyril C Valloor, Shiny Wilson, M.D. Valsamma, Padmini Thomas, K.M. Beenamol, Sunny Thomas, Anju Bobby George, Preeja Sreedharan, Sinimol Paulose, K.C.Rosakutty, K.T.Thomas, George Thomas, V. Diju, Chithra K Soman, Joseph G Abraham, P.I. Joseph, Wilson C Cherian, Sebastian Xavier, S. Omanakumari, Saji Thomas, Varghese Johnson, U. Sharaff Ali, K.P. Thomas, Robert Bobby George, Jose Jacob, D. Chandralal and other Arjuna and Dronacharya awardees jointly lit the lamps which depicted the 30 days’ countdown for the Games. They were also honoured with mementos for their contributions to Kerala’s sporting history.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy also unveiled the medals for the 35th Games. The medals have been made at the Government of India mint in Mumbai. The Minister for Health V.S. Shivakumar released the volunteers’ uniform sample. Minister for Sports Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan launched the Virtual Torch Relay mobile app. The mobile app can be downloaded from Android play store. A superb music show followed, a Jugalbandi, a unique mix of string and percussions, performed by the ace violinist Bala Bhaskar and the noted percussionist Mattannoor Sreeraj.

The 35th Edition of the National Games will be held over a span of 15 days beginning from 31st January 2015 to 14th February 2015 in the staggeringly beautiful state of Kerala.
