Thomson Reuters acquires media intelligence provider RedEgg

Thomson Reuters today announced that it has acquired the business and operations of RedEgg, a leading provider of media intelligence solutions for public relations and marketing professionals. The acquisition builds on an existing relationship with RedEgg whose MyMediaInfo media contact database and MyNewsBrief service are already available to Thomson ONE Public Relations and Thomson Reuters InPublic customers.

With the continuously evolving media landscape, public relations professionals need an accurate source of traditional and social media contacts to quickly identify relevant journalists and bloggers to target with their message. RedEgg's MyMediaInfo solutions offer an intuitive interface with access to date-stamped, current information so clients can effectively tailor their messages to the appropriate influencers in their market. Currently, more than 1,000 companies in North America rely on RedEgg's MyMediaInfo database as their source of media contacts and editorial calendars. This complements the release publishing capabilities and proprietary news and information sources that Thomson Reuters already offers public relations professionals, enabling them to effectively manage their communication activities, while saving them time and money.

"Today's turbulent markets are driving companies to unify their communications more holistically across their public relations, marketing and investor relations outreach," said Steve Roycroft, global managing director of the Corporate Services business of Thomson Reuters. "As a result, companies are looking for tools to help them develop and distribute their messages more effectively. By integrating RedEgg's MyMediaInfo solutions with our existing capabilities, we are able to provide PR professionals with differentiated, intuitive solutions designed to increase the impact of their communication programs."

Thomson Reuters plans to integrate RedEgg into its Corporate Services business, and its co-founders Gaugarin Oliver and Eric Hill will join and bring their expertise in developing innovative solutions for the public relations markets.

"The combination of Thomson Reuters and RedEgg is really powerful for our joint customers," said Gaugarin Oliver, former CEO and co-founder of RedEgg and incoming Global Head of PR Services, at Thomson Reuters. "As part of Thomson Reuters, one of the most recognized global brands in the world, our clients will now have access to a broad range of global solutions spanning the entire corporate workflow."

Thomson Reuters Corporate Services business provides more than 7,000 corporations worldwide with information, analytics and workflow solutions that enable decision making and drive performance across the enterprise. Its end-to-end workflow solutions are relied upon by public relations, investor relations, marketing, communications, corporate development and corporate treasury professionals worldwide.
