Though on work tours, after-work-party is what makes journey fun: Nautanki Film's Tiwari

A writer, television producer, Saurabh Tewari has been creatively involved in the television industry for a little over half a decade now. He is a strong believer in presenting fresh and new concepts to audiences.

Being a producer by profession, travelling by default becomes a part and parcel of his life. Having travelled and experienced numerous places in the world, Tiwari believes in the thought of making work-trips fun too.

With intent to share his travel experiences, this week Fox Traveller Diaries caught up with Saurabh Tewari, Owner/Managing Director at Nautanki Films Pvt Ltd.

Fox Traveller Diaries (FTD):  If there is one place you can keep going back to for a holiday, where would it be?

Saurabh Tewari (ST): My home town Lucknow.

FTD: Tell us three good things about travelling.

ST: Good Food, Local culture of the place that you are going to and most importantly, the overall journey to reach that destination.

FTD: When you travel, what is a must carry for you?

ST: My wallet and my phone.

FTD: When and where did your best holiday happen?

ST: Cannes; though it was a work trip but I had a lot of fun.

FTD: As a traveller, what’s your tip for the others?

ST: One should always go with an open mind in terms of experimenting and exploring new things and also it is important to at least keep basic knowledge of the local language of the place that you are travelling.

FTD: A colleague/co-worker from your industry with whom you would like to go on a holiday.

ST: I think Sanaya Irani would be the best person to go on a trip with and of course one of my close friends that is Sumeet, as we both share common interests.

FTD: Have you ever been surprised by the taste of food, outside India? Where?

ST: Many times, especially in the south-eastern countries; like Hong Kong and Singapore as I am not a sea food eater and more than not liking the food I am allergic to it; so I don’t like the sauces used to make chicken as well.

FTD:  What and where has been your best bazaar bargain so far?

ST: Cairo, Khan el-Khalili market.

FTD: Which has been the most unique destination that you ever visited. When and why?

ST: Not Yet; I want to go to Greece, Moroco and Barcelona

FTD: Tell us how you have managed to make a journey fun.

ST: Though I have been more on work tours but after-work-party is what makes journey fun!

FTD: A gourmet gaffe that you would like to share.

ST: I had once ordered for risotto...heard its great dish but later realized it is just one version of Khichdi!

FTD: What has been your worst travel moment? Why?

ST: It was in Hong Kong. It was my first time there, so I had no clue that Fish is served as vegetarian food in some countries. So I guess I was in Mc Donald or KFC and I ordered for a veg-Burger, after having a bite I realized that it’s something else and I puked instantly as I am allergic to sea food. I could not eat anything for more than 2 hours thereafter.

FTD: What is the best souvenir you ever bought for anyone?

ST: I got a Poncho for my mother from Los Angeles

After schooling in Lucknow, Tiwari pursued his bachelor’s degree in Arts, from the city’s University. In the year 1999 he enrolled in the Asian Academy of Film and Television to gain proficiency in his chosen profession.
