TikTok takes Trump Administration to Federal court over ban

TikTok US has filed a suit in the Federal court against U.S President Donald Trump and his administration. This development was in reaction to the Trump administration's efforts to ban the short-video app in the US market.

According to media reports, a TikTok executive has said that the order passed by the Trump Administration has the potential to strip the rights of the 100 million American users of TikTok and the company's 1500 employees in the US. The Trump Administration's claims that the application is a national security threat, however, TikTok disagrees with this allegation, calling it an election ploy.

In a blog, a TikTok spokesperson said "With the issue of Executive Order threatening to bring a ban on our US operations which in a way  eliminates the creation of 10,000 American jobs and millions of Americans who turn to this app for entertainment and vital livelihoods that are vital especially during the pandemic – we simply have no choice."
