Tony Harris appointed as CEO, BBDO Hong Kong

BBDO has appointed Tony Harris as CEO for BBDO Hong Kong, with regional management responsibility over the Visa business across Asia. Formerly the CEO for BBDO Japan, Harris brings to Hong Kong a wealth of knowledge and experience from over 30 years in the industry. He started his career in London and in 2010, before departing for Asia, was one of London’s Top 10 Account Men by Campaign Magazine.

Harris has been with the BBDO network for 8 years; first as CEO at BBDO Guerrero, the Philippines’ most awarded agency locally and internationally, where he most notably worked on the development of the acclaimed “It’s More Fun In The Philippines” campaign. He also authored a popular book about the campaign. In 2015, he moved to Tokyo to set up BBDO Japan.

Commenting on the appointment, Jean-Paul Burge, Chairman & CEO of BBDO Asia, said “Tony is a proven agency leader; one who combines creativity with business acumen. As a leader of multiple award-winning creative agencies, his focus has always been about great creative thinking as this leads to impressive business results, and he surrounds himself with the very best people to help drive that agenda. I have no doubt this will prove true in Hong Kong.”

“My time in Tokyo has been very fulfilling and I am delighted to leave behind a home-grown management team who can continue the development of BBDO Japan. I feel equally privileged to take on another leadership role within the BBDO network and continue the drive for Creativity and Effectiveness in a new and exciting territory,” said Harris.

The leadership of BBDO Japan will be taken up by Managing Director Hal Ito and General Manager Shuhei Ishikawa.
