Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival kicks off on 1st Sept'11

After two successful annual editions, the biggest amateur golf tournament in South India, Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival kicks off on 1st September 2011 in Bangalore, India. To be held at the Karnataka Golf Association from the 1st - 4th September 2011, the festival promoted by the Department of Tourism will provide a platform to over 400 golfers from across the country to battle it out to represent the country at the World Golfers' Championship, scheduled to be held at Durban, South Africa between 29th October - 5th November, 2011. As the official qualifying event for the World Golfers' Championship, the winning team from the Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival will be given a direct entry into the world final of the Championship where they will match their skills with competitors from 48 other countries. Last year's winning team of the Karnataka Golf Festival grabbed 5th place in the 2010 World Finals in Thailand.

With South India's top corporate leaders and businessmen teeing off at India's top rated Golf Course - The Karnataka Golf Association in Bangalore, India, the Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival, continues to showcase the world class golf facilities, the state has to offer. "It is indeed a great honour for the Karnataka Golf Association to stage the third edition of The Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival, 2011. The 4 winning individuals in various handicap categories shall participate in the World Golfers' Championship, and the winning team of 4 players will win a royal week-long trip on the luxurious Golden Chariot train.

The Festival will also see some of Karnataka's best golfers, top ranked lady player Aditi Ashok, India's No. 1 ranked lady professional Sharmila Nicollet, National Junior and Men's champion S. Chikkarangappa, star of the recent Asia Pacific bronze medal winning Indian team Khalin Joshi tee off with celebrities Syed Kirmani, Ashwini Nachappa, G. Vishwanath, E. Prasanna, Venkatesh Prasad, Sunil Joshi and Sujith Somasunder.

The Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival will conclude with a gala cocktail and dinner awards ceremony at the Park Plaza, Bengaluru, on 4th September, 2011 where the winning teams and participants will be recognized and rewarded.
