Travelling is all about being happy: Curry Nation's Priti Nair

An experienced advertising professional, Priti Nair’s passion for her chosen career is perceptible. Apart from advertising her other preferences include travel which never fails to fascinate her. An avid traveler, Goa has always been one of her favourite destinations.

Priti Nair, who started her career with DART advertising in 1990, later moved on to Leo Burnett (then Chaitra Leo Burnett). She has also had a 9 year stint at Lowe Lintas. Prior to joining BBH in 2008, Nair was national creative director at Grey Worldwide and has travelled extensively during the course of her career. Having come a long way in her career and with her rich experience in the industry she announced the launch of her own agency, Curry Nation in 2011. Being a true patriot and withher passion for both food and people she named the agency, 'Curry Nation Brand Communications', as a celebration of theIndian Culture.

We at Adgully caught up with Priti Nair, Director, Curry Nation who shared her unique travel experiences with us. Some excerpts:

Fox Traveller Diary (FTD): If there is one place you can keep going back to for a holiday, where would it be?

Priti Nair (PN): GOAHHHHHHHHHHHH!

FTD: Tell us three good things about travelling.

PN: The mind is happy, you are with people you like so you arehappy and you experience new things.

FTD: When you travel, what is a must carry for you?

PN: Smirnoff and cigarettes

FTD: When and where did your best holiday happen?

PN: Goa

FTD:  As a traveller, what is your tip for the others?

PN: Go with the flow and enjoy

FTD: A colleague/co-worker from your industry with whom you would like to go on a holiday.

PN: Samir Bangargi

FTD: Have you ever been surprised by the taste of food, outside India? Where?

PN: In France, shocked would be more apt!

FTD: What and where has been your best bazaar bargain so far?

PN: Thailand

FTD: Which is the most unique destination that you have ever visited?

PN: Goa

FTD: Tell us how you have managed to make a journey fun.

PN: Go with the right mix of people .That is most important. Don't carry along people who have issues and opinions on everything. They are bound to spoil your holiday

FTD: A gourmet gaffe that you would like to share.

PN: In Nepal a long long time back I ordered auberginesthinking it would be something exotic and it turned out to be our Indian baingan which I hate!

FTD: What has been your worst travel moment? Why?

PN: My worst travel moment is always when I return from Goa since the sentiments are exactly the opposite of when I am heading for the place

FTD: What is the best souvenir you have ever bought for anyone?

PN: Amrula from Africa. It is liquor made from a fruit that makes elephants go crazy with intoxication

Gifted with a poetic streak, Priti Nair summed up the conversation with a beautiful poem expressing her feelings for the place she loves to visit the most:

The body crumbles
and gives in
to the air
that embraces you softly
whispering, in your ears
a song so familiar
and the lips break into
a knowing smile
humming the tune
that wraps your heart
with that same feeling again
a blanket of the sea
a pillow of the sand
a peace unknown
here is where you want to live
here is where you want to die
LOVE YOU GOA.
