TRP Scam: Mumbai Police names Arnab Goswami as accused

The Mumbai Police has submitted a 1,800-page supplementary chargesheet in the Esplanade Metropolitan Magistrate Court in the TRP scam case that was unearthed last year. The supplementary chargesheet names Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV and four others from ARG Outlier Media, which owns Republic TV, as among the accused.

The others from ARG Outlier Media also named as accused are Priya Mukherjee, Shivendu Mulelkar and Shiva Sundaram.

The Mumbai Police has so far chargesheeted 15 people in the case, including former BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta and Vikas Khanchandani, CEO, Republic TV.

The charges include cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy, among others.

The FIR was registered in the case nine months ago, when then Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh in a press conference named Republic TV, Box Cinema and Fakht Marathi, while revealing details of a TRP scam busted by the Mumbai Police.

On March 24, 2021, the Bombay High Court had granted Goswami limited protection from arrest in his petition alleging “serious malafides” against the police, especially against Param Bir Singh.
