TV ad volumes reach 63,000+ hours in June-July’20: TAM AdEx

Advertising volumes on television grew to reach 63,000+ hours in June-July’20, as per the 9 edition of TAM AdEx’ ‘Television Advertising Report’. The reported further stated that 2,500+ advertisers and 3,900+ brands were visible across 360+ categories during this period; and that average ad volumes/day in July’20 grew by 11 per cent, compared to June’20.

Comparing Week 31 to Week 23, Television Ad Volumes grew by 40 per cent to 7,788 hours. At 8,139 hours, Week 30 recorded highest Ad Volumes among weeks ranging from 23 to 31. Ad Volumes on TV for the last 5 weeks reached above the average of Weeks 23-31.

Average Ad Volumes/Day for the month of July’20 grew by 11 per cent to 1,086 hours over June’20, where it stood at 982 hours.

The Personal Care/Personal Hygiene Sector topped the list of advertisers on TV with 22 per cent share, followed by the Food & Beverages sector with 18 per cent share and Services sector with 12 per cent share. The list of top 10 categories was dominated by the FMCG sector, with Toilet Soaps having the maximum share of 8 per cent. Top 50 categories held 73 per cent share of TV Ad Volumes.

During June-July’20, the Top 10 advertisers together contributed 50 per cent share of TV Ad Volumes. HUL alone had more than 1/4th of the Ad Volume share at 26 per cent, followed by Reckitt Benckiser India with 7% share.

A stable trend in tally of categories, advertisers and brands was observed during the last 9 weeks. There was a 15 per cent rise in average number of advertisers and brands during Week 30-31, compared to Week 23-29. Week 31 registered maximum number of advertisers (1,514) and brands (2,423).

New advertisers recorded a growth of 14 per cent in Week 31, compared to Week 30. At 417, the number of new brands grew by 12 per cent in Week 31 over Week 30.

A total of 1,100+ New Advertisers and 1,800+ New brands were seen in June-July’20 over April-May’20. Facebook topped the list of new advertisers and its brand Whatsapp led among the new brands.
