TV Show Review | Star Plus' Navya may not impress the youth | Adgully Ratings: 2*

Traditional values with new generation norms? Traditional values can very evidently be seen in this show however these traditional values seem to convey that the new generation "values" are not the right ones.

A day in a life of an average youth today is all about the freedom of expression in whatever form or nature. The show portrays the lead character Navya as a timid, traditional Indian girl who obeys her parents blindly and who is permitted to wear only traditional clothes. This is not intended to disrespect anyone's sentiments however, the truth remains that although there still are many youth who do practice this lifestyle, the majority of the youth today do not practice this "traditional" lifestyle.

Visiting any college today one will notice a majority of the students wearing what defines their style (jeans, skirts, dresses, salwars). The stress here is that if a show announces the concept it should deliver the same.

The show does grip you at the end by giving the audience romance, action and suspense! But what good is the gripping last 10 minutes if the first 20 minutes have already lost you?

Navya reminds me of another show that used to air back in 2004. The show is a typical filmy love story that I am sure Bollywood enthusiasts would appreciate. In my opinion the show will be highly received however the youth will tend to lose interest once the show starts to sneak into the "saas-bahu' drama faculty. | By Vanessa Azavedo [vanessa(at)adgully.com]
