TV this week: Colors, DD1 and SAB move up the list

The TAM data for this week has seen some serious leaps and a change of game all together. The fight for the number 1 GEC spot just got intensified. Colors has pushed Star Plus to the number two position and placed itself as the leader on the TAM scoreboard for this week. With Gross Rating Points (GRP) of 300 and a Channel Share (CS) of 22.6% Colors is the number one GEC this week. Moreover, this week Uttaran (TVR- 5.29%), Naa Aana Is Des Meri Laado (TVR5.26%) , Balika Vadhu (TVR-4.52%) and Laagi Tujhse Lagan (TVR-4.3%) from Colors' wide offering are amongst the top 10 shows and placed at number 3, 4, 8 and 9 respectively.

In a statement sent across to Adgully, a Colors spokesperson, said, "To counter the intensifying cricket world cup mania, we adopted an aggressive approach as part of our tactical move to minimize viewership-loss to cricket. These included inventory optimization, storyline peaks in some of our fiction shows and strong movie line-ups. The GEC space is not alien to these tactics. As the ratings suggest, this appears to have paid-off for us, as we experienced minimum viewership loss during the peak of world cup cricket."

There is also news that Star Plus had to face a few lapses in the distribution channels and which added to the decrease in its reach. Moreover media planners on terms on anonymity tell Adgully that the week by week fluctuation in the top players across TAM's data will be happening through the initial few months.
