TV this week: Life OK displaces Sony; makes a comeback AT #4

Although no change is seen in the top three positions of the Hindi GECs in Week 37, Life OK has gained significantly and  bounced back to the no. 4 position with a remarkable increase in its ratings as per TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 37 (September 8- September 14) for CS 4+, HSM markets. This could be attributed to their new programming content which is grabbing eyeballs like never before. With an immense dip in the channels ratings Sony Entertainment Television is once again in 6th position this week despite the launch of KBC Season 7 two weeks ago. Channel Colors has notched up its points and is inching closer to the leader Star Plus.

Following are the detailed GVT’s of the respective channels:  Star Plus still at no.1 has witnessed a slight dip in viewership and reported 477,029 GVTs (494732). But Colors at no.2 managed to notch up its score by garnering 463,869 GVTs (452,851). Zee TV continuing in the 3rd spot witnessed a fall in viewership and recorded 398,993  GVTs (410,774) . At 4th spot Life OK saw a surge in its ratings and recorded a score of 322,364 GVTs (276290).  SAB TV  with a dip in its ratings registered 312,053 GVTs (322,392) and holds the 5th spot and Sony now in the 6th position has seen a huge downslide to register a score of 292,852 GVTs (346,122)  in week 37 . Sahara One continues to be at the bottom with a stable score of 28749  GVTs (28,742) .

Now coming to the various popular shows of the top Hindi GECs for Week 37 their ratings   are as follows:

The two most popular shows on Star Plus, Diya aur Baati Hum and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai both saw a dip in its ratings to record 8,803 TVTs (9,765) and 6,144 TVTs (7,261) respectively.  Pyar Ka Dard Hai recorded 6,930 TVTs (6,840) while Saathiya registered 6,002 TVTs (6,079). The reality show Junior Master Chef lost viewership this week as it registered 2,160 TVTs (2,370).

The grand finale of celebrity dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on Colors registered 8,822 TVTs. Long running series Balika Vadhu notched up points to record 6,278 TVTs (5,912). Meanwhile Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon scored 4,442 TVTs (4,847), Uttaran recorded a score of 4,154 TVTs (4,450) and comedy show Comedy Nights with Kapil garnered 7,215 TVTs (7,983) all three shows witnessing a fall in their ratings.

Zee TV with its telecast of the grand finale of reality dance show DID Super Moms on 8 September  registered a score of 6,087 TVTs. Fictional series Qubool Hai on the channel witnessed a drop to thus record 5,956 TVTs (6,380). Pavitra Rishta ratings too dipped this week and recorded 4,280 TVTs (5,163). Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke saw a surge in its ratings and scored 5,362 TVTs (4,785). With the interesting turn of events on historical show Jodha Akbar the series has registered a score of 6,981 TVTs (7,259). The drama series Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se and its new offering Buddha on the channel has been unable to grab eyeballs and thus registered 5,047 TVTs (5,946) and 1,450 TVTs respectively.

All shows on channel Life OK have seen increased viewership in Week 37. The channel’s top series Mahadev has notched up its points and recorded 2,585 TVTs (2,511). Same goes with Do Dil Ek Jaan which saw an increase to record 2,585 TVTs (2,511). The other offerings on the channel, namely, Savdhan India rated 2,734 TVTs (2,651), Shapath garnered 3,410 TVTs (3,339) and Gustakh Dil registered 1,444 TVTs (1,333).

Fiction show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah on SAB TV remains the undisputed channel leader with 6,816 TVTs (6,751). Chidiya Ghar and Lapataganj  notched up its scores to record 3,430 TVTs (3,064) and 2,347 TVTs (2,062) respectively . FIR ratings dropped to record 2,055 TVTs (2,209).

The long running crime series CID on Sony witnessed a plunge to record 5,391 TVTs (5,941) while in contrast Crime Patrol viewership saw a rise to score 3,739 TVTs (3,418).  Historical show Maharana Pratap ratings dropped to generate 3,151 TVTs (3,354). A sharp downslide was seen in the ratings of popular show KBC on the channel. The show recorded 5,049 TVTs (8,950), 6,027 TVTs (8,460) and 6698 TVTs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively. Comedy Circus garnered 3,409 TVTs in Week 37.

In the movie channel's genre: Zee Cinema registered 191,359 GVTs (206,038); Star Gold witnessed a marginal rise to record 182,350 GVTs (176,904) while Movies OK saw a drop and rated 100,401 GVTs (105,357). The new entrant among movie channels, &pictures has garnered 67,774 GVTs (57,197) and Max too has witnessed increased viewership and recorded a  score of 192,416 GVTs (179,760) in week 37 of TAM, 2013.
