TV this week: Life OK is the biggest gainer

The telecast of The Screen Awards hosted by Shahrukh Khan on 25th January 2014 has helped Life OK garner a whopping 8,998 TVTs (9.0 TVM) more than it fared last year on a competing channel making it the biggest gainer in week 4 of TAM 2014 . Week 04’14 saw Life OK grow to 375 GVM from 347 GVM last week. The channel’s weekend properties have also increased in viewership making them No. 2 in weekend viewing.

The only other channel to gain this week is SAB TV which has seen marginal improvement. Colors has once again bounced back to its original 2nd position, although the channel has registered a drop of 18 million TVT, thus bringing Zee once again to 3rd position this week. Viewership of no.1 GEC Star Plus and Zee TV too have plummeted while Sony TV ratings dipped even further  as per data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 4, 2014 (January 19 – January 25) for CS 4+, HSM markets.

Following are the scores of the Hindi GECs for week 4, 2014 with previous week’s figures in the brackets:

Star Plus the leader among the GECs lost 20 million TVTs this week and recorded 606,361 GVTs (625,772) with a relative share of 24.75% (25.17%).
Colors at no. 2 witnessed a steep downslide in viewership losing 18 million TVTs which has led the channel this week to record 449,428 GVTs (466,690) with a relative share of 18.34% (18.78%).

Zee TV which took a huge leap last week saw a slump in viewership and now at no. 3 recorded 441,168 GVTs (470,680) with a relative share of 18.01% (18.94%). The channel lost 30 million TVTs in week 4

Life OK still at the 4th spot has notched up substantially in week 4 with a gain of 28 million TVTs to record a gross TVT of 375,025 million against last week’s GVT of 347,326 million. The channel’s relative share has taken a leap and is at 15.32% (13.95%) this week.

SAB TV at no. 5 registered a slight gain in viewership and recorded a score of 323,148 GVTs (318,311) with 13.19% (12.79%) relative share.             

Meanwhile Sony ratings registered a further downslide thus recording 253,722 GVTs (257,635). The channel remains fixed at the 6th spot and indicates a relative share of 10.38% (10.37%).

Sahara One indicates no change and has registered 36,351 GVTs (35,959) in week 4, 2014 and remains at the bottom of the chart.

Coming to the most watched shows on the Hindi GECs:

On Star Plus ratings of Nach Baliye 6 indicate a dip in viewership as the show registered 3,727 TVTs (4,449) and the same can be said about epic series Mahabharat telecast from Monday through Friday as it recorded 6,954 TVTs (7538).

The fifth edition of India’s Got Talent on Colors saw a drop in viewership as the show registered 7,187 TVTs (7,857). Popular show Comedy Nights with Kapil on the channel too lost viewership this week and garnered 10,091 TVTs (11,016).

Among the most watched shows on Zee TV the new offering Aur Pyar Ho Gaya gained slightly as the show recorded 3,883 TVTs (3,637), sitcom Bha se Bhade: (Sat-Sun) saw a decrease in viewership and registered 1,712 TVTs (1,931). Dance India Dance 4 ratings nosedived as it recorded a score of 2,974 TVTs (6,838) on Saturday but picked up viewership as it recorded 4,036 TVTs (3,878) on Sunday.

Meanwhile dance reality show Boogie Woogie Kids Championship (Sat-Sun) presently in its seventh week on Sony Entertainment Television is apparently losing viewership as the show registered 2,080 TVTs (2,381) in week 4.
Following are the GVTs of the movie channels this week:

Zee Cinema recorded an increase in viewership with 221,256 GVTs (198,135), Star Gold scores dropped this week and recorded 211,743 GVTs (216,328). Ratings of Movies OK picked up marginally and registered 140,490 GVTs (138,124). Movie channel &pictures ratings saw a slight dip and registered 93,142 GVTs (93,317). Zee Anmol ratings took a plunge and registered 71,456 GVTs (74,522). Max ratings climbed considerably and recorded 230,720 GVTs (203,203) as per data recorded in week 4 of TAM 2014.
