TV this week: SET topples Colors while KBC is the No 1 show

Sony Entertainment Television (SET) this week yet again has performed well across TAM's scale. The channel has laddered up and positioned itself as the No.2 General Entertainment Channel (GEC). Pushing Colors to the No.3 position SET this week has a Gross Rating Point (GRP) and Channel Share (CS) of 245 and 19.0% respectively.

Moreover the channel's mega-offering Kaun Banega Crorepati is the number one show across all GECs with a TVR of 5.24%. While Bade Ache Lagte Hain (TVR-3.92%) and CID (TVR- 3.6%) are placed at number 6 and 10 respectively.

Delighted at the channel performance, Sneha Rajani, Senior EVP Business Head, SET, says, "KBC 2011 has been the only non-fiction show to open above 5 TVR this year on any Hindi GEC. We are delighted at the performance of all our shows and over the next 4 to 5 weeks we will further consolidate our position. We are confident that fiction will be the main growth driver on the channel. With a slew of promising new shows SET will be a channel to watch out for."

Commenting on the stupendous numbers for SET, NP Singh, COO, MSM, says, "2011 has been a very good year for us. Sony Entertainment Television is on an upward curve. Star Plus has maintained its number one spot with an increase in its GRP and CS. The channel's GRP and CS has increased to 297 and 23.0 % respectively. Star Plus has three of its shows amongst the top 10 shows across channels which include Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain, Saath Nibhana Saathiya and Pratigya.

With a GRP of 232 and a CS of 18.0% Colors has slipped to the number three position this week. Moreover, this week Balika Vadhu has been pushed to the number three spot with a TVR- 4.61%. While Uttaran (TVR- 3.71%) is amongst the top 10 shows and is placed at number 8.

Zee TV is at number four this week too with a GRP and CS of 194 and 15%. The channel has managed to get its show Pavitra Rishta at number four. Zee TV's show Sabse Bada Mahasangam (TVR- 3.79%) is at number 7.

SAB has retained its fifth position with a GRP of 128 and a CS of 9.9% and Imagine is positioned at number seven with a GRP and CS of 76 and 5.9% respectively. | By Prabha Hegde [prabha(at)adgully.com]
