TV this week: Sony jumps at #2

Hindi general entertainment channels have been impacted by the ongoing India-Sri Lanka cricket series. The top three GECs of last week – Star Plus, Zee TV and Colors lost 71 GRPs in the week 29 (July15- July21) of TAM 2012 according to TAM data sourced from TAM subscribers. Sony has jumped to number two position on the back of outstanding performance of its flagship fiction show ‘Bade Acche Lagte Hain’. It was the second most watched show of the week with an average of 4.2 TVR.
 
As per TAM readings for week 29 it has been seen that after being constantly at number one spot and a leader among Hindi GEC’s Star Plus took a dip in ratings from its original 276 GRPs to 254 GRPs .
 
The rest of the pecking order too underwent changes. In a move that has worked for Sony it’s position has climbed from its fourth position last week to second position in week 29. The significant increase of 6 rating points from week prior has garnered 228 GRPs for the channel from last weeks 222GRPs. Sony has been the only channel among the top four to have garnered GRPs in week 29.
 
Zee TV has dropped to the third spot with 221 GRPs a dip from 253 GRPs from the week before.
 
Colors too has descended to the fourth place from its original third  and is at 214 GRPs.  A decrease of 17 rating points has been observed since week 28.
 
Sab gained 7 points to register 129 GRPs in week 29 as against the 122 GRPs of last week.
 
On the other hand Life OK in week 29 has registered 101 GRPs and taken a dip of 12 rating points.
 
In week 29 Sahara has recorded 42 GRPs and has gained 3 rating points from the previous week.
