TV this week: Zee TV reaches to #2

ZEE TV with its steady progress over the last few weeks has gradually inched its way to the top of the Hindi GEC list in week 49, TAM 2013. Zee Rishtey Awards 2013, telecast recently on Zee TV garnered 8,599 TVTs while the Red Carpet earned the channel 3969 TVTs thus helping it to overtake and displace Colors thereby taking the no.2 position this week. Star Plus with its most watched serials is unrelenting and continues to lead the flock with an increase in ratings thus widening the lead margin in week 49. Colors, Life OK and SAB have lost viewership while Sony gained on the back of improved ratings of KBC and launch of Boogie Woogie Kids Championship that opened at 4,411 TVTs but the channel remains steadfast in 6th position of the GEC list as per data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 49 ( December 1 - December 7 ) for CS 4+, HSM markets.

Also to be noted is the fact that DEN Networks Ltd., India’s leading cable TV distribution company that reaches an estimated 11 million households across nearly 13 key states has switched off its cable TV signals resulting in a black out leaving subscribers in several parts of the country facing total absence of content from some of the most popular channels on air. Despite this Boogie Woogie has gained good numbers into the very first week of launch and this is proof enough of its popularity among audiences.
