The agreement will decrease the impact of misinformation in tweets, Twitter has been working to ensure that its topic listings are correct and users can connect to credible sources.

As explained by Twitter in their blogpost:

"We are committed to making sure that when people come to Twitter to see what’s happening, they are able to easily find reliable information. Twitter will be able to expand the scale and increase the speed of our efforts to provide timely, authoritative context across the wide range of global topics and conversations that happen on Twitter every day."

People currently can see this added context and reliable information in Trends,Explore tab, Search, Prompts and Labels.Through this agreement,Twitter’s Curation team will increase their capacity to add reliable context to conversations happening on Twitter. This joint work will increase the scale and speed of the current work outlined above by increasing and improving context sharing, anticipating and proactively identifying emerging conversation and improving the effectiveness of product features. AP and Reuters will not be involved in enforcement decisions.

Twitter expects that their efforts to grow over time and the nature of the work may evolve as they learn, observe, and scale their efforts to provide support across languages and timezones, globally.  The partnerships with AP and Reuters will help to ensure that Twitter's curation team can access real time updates via established and vetted sources.Twitter will have access to the same sources that Reuters and the Associated Press, this will help its curators with the newest information.
