Twitter introduces additional features of Virual Tip Jar & Ticketed Spaces

Twitter is introducing a new feature, Tip Jar, which will act as a way for people to send and receive tips. It is an easy way to support all the voices  that make up the conversations on Twitter. This is the first step taken by the company in order to create new ways for people to receive and show support on Twitter with money. The feature is rolling out for both iOS and Android users who use Twitter in the English language.

As you can see here, the new Tip Jar feature, is accessible via a cash icon at the top of eligible profiles, enables users to make payments to another user by connecting through to the payment provider of their choice. The user can then select whichever payment mode or platform they prefer and they will be taken off Twitter to the selected app where they can show their support in the amount they choose.

"We see you – sharing your PayPal link after your Tweet goes viral, adding your $Cashtag to your profile so people can support your work, dropping your Venmo handle on your birthday or if you just need some extra help. You drive the conversation on Twitter and we want to make it easier for you to support each other beyond Follows, Retweets, and Likes. Today, we're introducing Tip Jar – a new way for people to send and receive tips". Twitter explained in a blogpost.

As the feature is still being tested by the company, so not all users will be able to add it now.

Twitter also introduced an additional feature of Ticketed Spaces, that will allow creators to sell entry tickets for rooms on their spaces. The company also opened the Spaces platform to more users, allowing anyone with more than 600 followers on Twitter to create their own rooms.

“Based on what we've learned, these accounts are likely to have a good experience hosting because of their existing audience. Before bringing the ability to create a Space to everyone, we’re focused on a few things," the company said in its tweet thread.

The new feature of Twitter includes co-hosting, which allows multiple Twitter users to host rooms on Spaces together, and the ability to schedule rooms for later which in turn becomes easier for users to remember. The company also said it’s working on improving the live captions feature on Spaces.

Spaces and Clubhouse are also under pressure because of Facebook’s unexpected entry into the audio-only social media space. However, Twitter announced this new feature of Ticketed Spaces after the introduction of Clubhouse's new creator fund option, which will be used to promote creators on the platform, and also added a payments feature that allows users to pay for rooms on the app.
