Unravelling the mystery of Agent Raghav

&TV launched its new Indian crime fiction television series Agent Raghav, a direct copy of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, this weekend.  The show being aired weekends, 9 pm has replaced Voices, a reality music show.

The show is being touted as a thriller that connects with masses. The channel as well as the production house is optimistic that non-stop adventure, tremendous pressure and risk would keep the audience on edge.

Agent Raghav has been shot in different part of the country and Contiloe Entertainment already has a bank of 6 episodes with them. Each episode would deal with a new murder case. Sharad Kelkar who will be returning to television after two years will play the protagonist in the show. His enviably high IQ, a photographic mind and power of observing minutest of details helps him in cracking the cases in the show.

Abhimanyu Singh, CEO, Contiloe Entertainment divulges, “The show is about murder mysteries. Agent Raghav, who works with CBI, not only solves the cases but has a unique way of deducing how and what could have happened and when it could have happened.”

A team of five different agents helps Agent Raghav in solving the case. The boss, who is the head of the CBI, is played by a girl name Trisha and another important agent is named Rajveer.

One wonders if the splurge of crime shows would not have led to audience fatigue. Abhimanyu Singh dismisses the suggestion. He says “All the murder mysteries which we have created so far have done really well. Adaalat was a different kind of murder mystery where cases were being solved in the court. However, Agent Raghav would be solving the cases outside the court. While this show is nothing like Savdhan India or Crime Petrol, it is a fictional detective murder mystery and it will do well in the Television space.”

On being asked why a weekend show again, Abhimanyu laughs, “I have always liked the weekend, we have had some of the most successful shows on weekend and I believe weekend is a good time for us.”

Abhimanyu had strong reasons for getting Sharad Kelkar on board as the central character. “Sharad has profound physical appearance of an aspirational police officer and a detective. Secondly, he has got a very strong voice, which is one of the most important requirements. He also has an aura of mystery about him. These were very solid reasons for us to cast him as Agent Raghav.”

Like Adaalat, another one of his crime shows, Agent Raghav might also be on air in more than one season. Abhimanyu informs, “We are looking at another season going forward. For the current season we are looking at running it for six months, two episodes per week. As it is a finite series, there will be another season of it. The fact is we have put in all our effort and energy into it, so we are hoping for a very successful season and hope we will make it into next season.”
