UpGrad Appoints Anshul Khandelwal as Marketing Head
UpGrad, the upcoming online education platform for working professionals, announced the appointment of Anshul Khandelwal as the Marketing Head effective March 2016. Anshul will be responsible for drivingthe marketing, positioning and branding for UpGrad. He will be reporting to Mayank Kumar, MD at UpGrad.
Ronnie Screwvala (Co-Founder, UpGrad) and Mayank Kumar (Co-Founder &MD, UpGrad) said in a joint statement, said, “We are happy to have Anshul on board to lead the marketing operations for UpGrad as we continue to expand our portfolio of programs. We look forward to working with Anshul and benefitting from his expertise and out-of-the-box thinking. Education is a large sector and there is a lot of disruptive thoughts that can be executed to build a long stadning brand. Together we hope owards achieving and setting new industry benchmarks as we scale up.”
India has 150M individuals in the higher education age group population (18-24 years), and less than 30M are going through. Online education has to work towards bringing more people within the higher education umbrella – as online offline education may not meet the growind demand requirement. Further, many individuals find it difficult to leave their jobs to go back to school and gain additional skills to move up in their career. That is where UpGrad intends to bring quality education for those professionals and allow them to upgrade their career.

An IIM Kozhikode alumnus, Anshul is a marketing, ecommerce and start-up enthusiast. Prior to joining UpGrad, Anshul worked with BlueStone as VP-Marketing where he led brand strategy and positioning, creative development, brand activation, customer acquisition and marketing-led innovations. Having joined BlueStone since its inception, he has been instrumental in establishing BlueStone as the leading jewellery portal over the last four years. He also led new product development initiatives and launches during his stint at 3M’s healthcare division and has worked with industry leaders such as Mahindra & Mahindra and GlobalLogic.
