V Resorts partners with GoMassive to host The Massive Earth Summit 2018

In partnership with PayTM, The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other prominent organizations, Noida based startup incubator GoMassive is hosting The Massive Earth Summit 2018 in New Delhi on June 6th, to explore ideas to create and proliferate a “Pollution Reduction Industry” in India.

In line with its commitment towards sustainable tourism through tie ups with IFC on their EDGE Green Buildings program as well as the UN on promoting circular economies, V Resorts, a leader in leisure travel space in India, has partnered with GoMassive to support innovations in eco-tourism and local sustainability.

The event, being held at Taj Diplomatic Enclave, will see eminent luminaries speaking on the urgent crisis plaguing India’s cities including, but not restricted to:

  • Prof Vijay Raghavan, Principal Scientific Advisor to GoI,
  • Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder PayTM,
  • Dr Anil Kakodkar, Ex-Chairman Atomic Energy Commission,
  • Atul Bagai, India Head UN Environment,
  • Satya S Tripathi, Sr Advisor to UNEP & Chairperson, SIFF, and more.

The summit will see participation of over 300 startups, policy makers, corporates, and investors and will showcase innovations in biofuels, mobility, forests, air and water which is expected to trigger an investment in excess of $2.5 billion in immediate future.

The initiative comes just weeks after Delhi along with 13 Indian cities were ranked as world’s most polluted by World Health Organisation, earlier this month. Pollution though a biggest challenge of our lifetime, can also be the biggest opportunity. Pollution and climate change itself is estimated as a $15 trillion market opportunity.

Speaking about the Summit, Shailesh Vikram Singh, Founder & MD at GoMassive said  “the core agenda of the Summit is to re-capture larger environment issues from "activists/ban-brigade" as we believe that this approach has made everybody a sinner and diverted us from core issues. At Massive, we are a deep science fund, which aims to invest in companies developing technologies that can counter challenges created by human activity, chief among which is today’s pollution crisis. The aim of the summit is to foster deep relationships with policy makers and the entire ecosystem to build better advocacy for technologies that can solve our collective challenges.”

Aditi Balbir, Founder & CEO at V Resorts, whose company has been changing the dialogue around Eco-Tourism & Sustainability added, “We see this as a forum where startups can not only collaborate with one another but also converse with policymakers on tackling sustainability challenges confronting the tourism and other sectors. At V Resorts, we have consistently been committed to the idea of growing with local economies in a sustainable way and our participation here re-affirms that commitment”
