Vh1 celebrates 40 years of British brilliance at The BRIT Awards 2020

Billie goes Bond: After a clean sweep at the GRAMMYs, Billie Eilish’s performance was the most awaited from a stellar line-up. The starlet from Los Angeles teased audience with a live debut of the new theme song from the upcoming James Bond movie “No Time to Die” creating a frenzy at the O2. Billie signed off the night by taking home the ‘International Female Solo Artist’ award.

Lewis Capaldi’s tribute to his grandmother: Lewis Capaldi’s second outing at the BRIT Awards turned out to be historic for him as he swept top awards at the night, winning ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best New Song’ for his single “Someone You Loved”. He credited his late grandmother for being the inspiration behind the hit single.

Dave’s larger than life performance: London-based rapper Dave delivered a rare hip-hop performance as he played the piano while performing to his single “Black”. His versatility left fans speechless. Having led the nomination race with Lewis Capaldi, Dave had much to cheer on the night as his album “Psychodrama” was awarded ‘British Album of the Year’.

Mabel’s date with destiny: After kicking off the night with her trans-Atlantic hit “Don’t Call Me Up”, breakout dance-pop singer-songwriter Mabel won her first ever BRIT Award in ‘British Female Solo Artist’ category. This award is very special to Mable as it comes exactly 3 decades after her mother, alt-pop innovator Neneh Cherry won awards in both ‘International Solo Artist’ and ‘International Breakthrough Act’ category on the same night.

Celeste’s ‘Rising Star’ moment: Taking stage dressed in a black gown, soul-singer Celeste performed to her single "Strange” backed only by a piano, a soft spotlight and her chilling vocals. Making the night even more memorable Celeste joined the ranks of Adele, Ellie Goulding, Sam Fender, Jorja Smith, Rag’n’Bone Man and others by winning the prestigious ‘Rising Star’ award.

Rod Stewart’s closing act: An electrifying performance from rock ‘n’ roll legend Rod Stewart brought an end to the night. Rod called on to stage co-band members of Faces Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones to be a part of the closing act complemented with giant chandeliers and the glorious sounds of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
