Video content platform Trell awarded the MI Golden Award

India’s video content platform Trell, has bagged the MI Golden Award for this week. The win will feature Trell on the homepage of the Golden MI award collection. In addition to this, MI will also provide the vlogging platform with a wider reach through a variety of mediums that will include home page carousels, social media platforms, and push notifications for application-related content, amongst others.

The Golden MI Award is presented by the Xiaomi Official App Store based on a wide range of criteria to select the best applications available at present. The selection criteria for the award include parameters such as interaction design, function and content, and innovation. The apps also need to follow the standard android design and should be based on authentic ideas. The nominated apps will also be judged based on display features such as font size, background color, and other such intricate details. Most importantly, the apps are required to meet user demands and have easily navigable interfaces with better functions than similar applications available.

Speaking on the win, Mr. Pulkit Agrawal, Co-Founder of Trell, said, “We are delighted to have won this award and would like to express our gratitude to Xiaomi for considering our platform. It has been a memorable journey and the entire team has worked relentlessly to help us achieve this milestone. We are committed to work towards improving user experience and enabling more innovations in the ecosystem.”

A homegrown app, Trell has evolved into the go-to platform for content creators across the country to express their opinions in their native languages, and even monetize their content and earn rewards. Incepted in 2017, Trell is the brainchild of IIT, Bombay, alumni Pulkit Agrawal, Arun Lodhi, and Prashant Sachan, and NITIE alumnus Bimal Kartheek Rebba. The app brings together a community of people, allowing them to share their views on a myriad of topics such as beauty, health and fitness, entertainment, travel, and cooking in the form of 3 min vertical vlogging videos.

The fast-growing platform is currently available in 8 Indian languages and has surpassed the daily active users of social media giants such as Pinterest and Twitter in India. Committed to catering to the needs of regional consumers in India, 62% of Trell’s users hail from tier-II cities and beyond. In the next few months, the platform plans to launch several new features and tools on its app such as ‘Talk Show Hosting’ and ‘Reaction Video Maker’, helping content creators gain traction and create relevant meaningful content for their audience. Trell has grown from 200K to 80 million downloads over the past year, emerging as a leading content platform in India.
