Voltas awarded the Smart Cities India Awards 2018

Voltas, India’s No.1 AC Company from the house of Tata’s, has been awarded the Smart Cities India Awards 2018 in the Green Building category for its project The Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Bhawan. This building is centrally air conditioned office housing Ministry of Environment and Forest located at Jorbagh Road, Aliganj, New Delhi. The award ceremony was held on 25th May 2018 at Delhi.

The Paryavaran Bhavan is the first “Net Zero” building in India with “LEED Platinum” certification and GRIHA Five Star certification for exemplary demonstration of Renewable Technologies. It is important to also note that entire electrical consumption of the property is around 14 lakhs KWH in a year which otherwise would have been around 22 lakhs KWH required for a similar building using conventional engineering design and material. What is further unique about this property is that this amount of energy being used is generated through a solar cell making it a net zero building.

Mr. M Gopi Krishna, COO, Voltas Domestic Projects Group, said, “We are honored to receive this prestigious award. At Voltas, we have kept societal engineering at the core and have been working in the direction of building an energy efficient ecosystem in India through, making our products and solutions highly energy efficient and introduction of new energy efficient technologies. The award stands testimony to this approach and provides us with the motivation to work even harder towards achieving our goal of providing sustainable spaces.”
