VW launches Vento's IPL edition, says an innovative campaign is on its way

Volkswagen announced the introduction of a special edition of its popular model, the Vento, coinciding with Season 4 & 5 of the Indian Premier League.

This announcement follows the German automobile giant being the official and exclusive sponsors of cricketing madness IPL. Moreover, with this launch Volkswagen brings its concept of action models into India. The Vento IPL Edition will be the first such model to be introduced in the Indian market and would pave the path for higher volume for the already popular model.

The Vento IPL Edition is loaded with a state-of-the-art colour touchscreen multimedia player that includes a navigation system among other things, plush leatherette seats and a host of specially branded accessories. All for a competitive price of Rs. 7.24 lakhs ex showroom New Delhi.

Apart from the special features that go into the car, Volkswagen will give all its Vento IPL Edition customers an apt gift of a cricket kit. The car will be manufactured at the company's Pune factory and distributed across a strong pan India network of Volkswagen dealers.

The cars will go on sale from the first week of April tentatively around the 8th of April 2011.

Commenting on the introduction of the Vento IPL Edition, Neeraj Garg, Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd. said, "The award winning Vento was specially designed for the Indian customer and has become very popular since its launch last September, hence, the perfect choice for an action model for this market. The Vento IPL Edition adds to our existing line-up as we continue to strive to give our customers innovations and at the same time value for money in our products.

Lutz Kothe, Head of Marketing and PR Volkswagen Group Sales Pvt. Ltd. told Adgully that the consumers can look forward to another innovative campaign for the new launch. He added that the launch and the association will help the brand build in-roads into the Indian consumers mind and the association will in fact be fruitful to the company. Volkswagen has sold around 14,000 Vento models since its launch in India and the company's group sales since January this year has been around 12,678 cars.

The latest launch will be available around the IPL season this year post which after a review of sales the company will look at extending the sales period and maybe look at modifying and adding a few features.
