Weekend Exclusive | A Superstars in waiting: Shayam Sunder

Today in this section Adgully caught up with Shayam Sunder who is COO of Quatrro Mortgage Solutions and is also a part of one of the finest and oldest rock bands: Wintage. He plays as a guitarist and has been performing quite ‘Rockingly’ all over the world.

When asked that it has been almost two decades in the music scene how has these years been for you, he said, “It has been a wonderful Journey.  All of us pursued our individual successful corporate careers and have found time to get together to play the music we love.”

Sharing some key high points of his journey, he said, “The connection we have with each other with the common goal of playing music, Everlasting love for Classic Rock, Support of our families who indulge us.”

Well, bands go through quite a lot during the initial years but when he started it was quite early, on asking what has been the most saddest/hardest time for the band, Sunder said that initial years were  struggling as to get decent equipment to play and the saddest was when music had to be in suspended animation for a few years while we had other competing priorities in life..

Shayam Sunder has played in big cities across the country and feels that the most receptive place to Indian rock bands is Hands Down Delhi.

Playing in Zorba on 29th Dec 2012 was one of his best works.  He inspires people like Deep Purple, Dire Straits, Beatles, Chris Rea. Well if we see today we have so many young bands coming up, so when asked how do you see the space getting evolved over the years, Sunder said, “The resources available at the disposal of bands today is comparable to any place else in the world.

This combined with rich talent already putting some of the young bands in the international scene as top performing acts..he feels that there will be some super stars out of India soon.

He is totally of the opinion that platforms like Youtube and MySpace have changed the way people see, learn, teach and enjoy music. The material gets out there without the need for middle men at big recording companies... this brings a lot of crappy underdone stuff as well.. but there is some great stuff out there. “We just intend to play classic rock and have fun while sharing the fun with our audience,” Sunder concluded. | By Aanchal Kohli [aanchal(at)adgully.com]
