Weekend Exclusive | I loved the fact that Star Plus had a 'young' love story and I was a part of it: Actor Shaheer Sheikh

Shaheer Sheikh, an actor with 'cute chocolate boy' looks but a bundle of talent as well, is best known for his lead role as Vir Mehra on Disney Channel India original series, Kya Mast Hai Life. He is also seen as Nana Sahib in the Zee TV show Jhansi Ki Rani and Ritesh, a recurring role, on the Disney Channel's, Best Of Luck Nikki. Shaheer shot to fame as Anant Bajpai in Star Plus's popular show Navya.

Speaking exclusively with Adgully, Shaheer Sheikh, spoke about his life and much more.

Shaheer said, "I never planned it for myself, it just happened. I went into modelling before, but never thought of getting into television acting but it just happened and I kind of like it."

Sharing his 'your the lucky one' story about how he entered the acting industry, he said, "one of my known persons saw my pictures on a social networking site and asked whether I would want to enter the television acting field. I refused it, but then I was approached again for a Walt Disney show and at that time I was working with a law firm in Pune. I accepted it as I used love the shows on the channel and I also loved the concept. I gave my first auditions and after a week I got a call saying you need to shift to Mumbai as I was selected!"

Speaking about his future plans, he said, "Right now I have many things in my mind. I want to learn editing; I used to do photography so probably I would love to continue that. I am also very interested in direction and so let's see whenever I will get a chance will dive into it."

Shedding some light on his character in his latest show, "Navya', he said, "Anant is a very simple, normal, a today's era kid who is born and brought up in a very reserved family, full of religious norms and values but the best part is that, Anant is really honest to himself and towards his family. He has never faced love and I basically like the way they portrayed the story, the graph of the character and the whole scene."

What attracted him to taking up his role in Navya was the the fact that for the first time there was a "young' story on Star Plus after all that 'saas bahu' shows! "Though I used to love playing the character of a school going kid in Walt Disney", he added.

A very simple and passionate actor loves his work and will go a long way.

Shaheer Sheikh hails from Bhaderwah District of Jammu region of Jammu and Kasmir. An LLB holder, Shaheer also owns an event management company. Prior to becoming an actor, he has also done modeling and has a keen interest in photography. | By Aanchal Kohli [aanchal(at)adgully.com]
