Weekend Exclusive | Yudishtir Urs summing up IPL in 3 words ' Super, Fantastic, Fantastic!

The boy from Bangalore VJ Yudi speaks to Adgully about the donning of his new avatar as sports reporter at this season's Indian Premier League (IPL). Yudi will be capturing the action live on the field as well as from the dugout. He will bring us the exclusives on the players, owners and coaches.

Along with Yudi will also be Archana Vijaya, Gaurav Kapur, Shibani Dandekar and Samir Kochhar out on the fields this season.

This reporting from the dugout brings an interesting perspective to the game. Yudi expresses, "this gets you to be part of the game rather than being someone looking from outside."

In a country like Indian no matter how much you feed people with cricket people will still ask for more. He says, "In India there's no such thing as a limit to cricket." In his opinion cricket is the only sport us Indians play and play well. This year we have been victorious at the World Cup. Being world champions will bring out excellent results for the IPL Yudi expresses, "we have seen them play together and now against each other, for the fans especially, watching the dynamics that is Sachin vs. Dhoni, what's better than that?"

According to Yudi this time could be any ones game since all the teams have been shuffled. However the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have retained most of their players they are definitely part of the stronger teams along with Kolkata Knight Riders.

The IPL has brought in a lot of women audiences' which according to Yudi is "fantastic." He humorously says, "It's fantastic to see young women interested in the game and not just for the boys (players)." Not forgetting however that this interest was all started because of Mandira Bedi.

Yudi states that this season Extraaa Innings will try to bring in a "human element" into the show by showcasing off the field stories or more appropriately video diaries with the players before the game. These videos will be focused around the city and around the teams.

After the World Cup, Kumar Sangakkara has been Yudi's favourite cricketer. Yudi says that there are many excellent players but a true player is one who shows sportsmanship. Sangakkara is his favourite for his sportsman spirit as even after loosing the World Cup he graciously accepts that India was the better team.

Comparing test matches with twenty20 Yudi states that test matches are the breeding ground for young cricket talent while although T20 does provide a platform for the young talent to play with a legend like Tendulkar. He says, "We will see a lot more Sachins and Dhonis come out from this." A test match is not really followed ball by ball except for the players, selector and coaches for them it is important to keep this form alive. T20 is a fast game and thus people enjoy watching it ball to ball. However one very important factor this year was Indian winning the World Cup which generated a lot of interest in IPL. According to Yudi the India ' Sri Lanka final added to the fanatics of this cricket crazy sub-continent.

Yudi feels that the IPL will rather bring the nation together rather than divide it as being Indians we are quite integrated. In IPL it is mainly who you as an individual support based on favourite players and team composition.

At the end of it all Yudi hopes that some day IPL will open up to Pakistan cricketers he expresses, "At the end of the day it's a game and they are our neighbours."

To end with Yudi describes the IPL in just three words ' Super, Fantastic, Fantastic. Because it is so fantastic you got to say it twice!
