Welspun Group appoints Meraj Hasan to head mktg for flooring vertical
Mumbai-headquartered Welspun Group has roped in Meraj Hasan as the Global Marketing head for their Fooring vertical. He joins in from L&K Saatchi & Saatchi, where he was Vice President - Planning. He has joined the office starting today.
Commenting on his new role, Hasan told Adgully, “I will be handling the marketing responsibilities for Welspun Group’s flooring vertical at the global level. The product portfolio consists of carpets, rugs and carpet tiles. Globally, the category is huge with some very prominent players, but in India, it’s pretty nascent. The idea is to build the brand (and category) in India as well as globally.”
On the reason for this move, he said, “At this juncture in my career, I was feeling the need for being a part of something tangible and become directly instrumental in its growth, both as the product and the brand. Although advertising is fun and challenging, it seemed rather limiting in this regard. And that’s when this opportunity came up. Welspun, a Fortune India 500 conglomerate, is a solid Indian group with footprints across the globe. The group has ambitious plans for the future and I am looking forward to contribute to this journey.”
Hasan has over 17 years of experience as a strategy lead in the business of building brands across industry. Prior to L&K Saatchi & Saatchi, he was Communications Strategy Lead at Reliance Industries, working on its 4G business under Jio. He has also worked across agencies like Lowe & Partners Worldwide, Rediffusion Y&R, Ogilvy and McCann in the past.
He is an alumnus of Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad (MICA).
